Executive Committee

Meeting Minutes 7-20-05

Attendees;

• Khalil, Tawfiq, and Reda from the Religious Committee

Upon request of the secretary, the meeting was opened by the (back-up) Secretary at 8:06 PM.

The following items were discussed and approved;

Administration:

A hard copy of 7/06/05 meeting minutes was provided to all officials present then read by the back-up Secretary for approval. The minutes were approved as presented.

• ICW treasurer informed the committee about his discussion with brother Jamil regarding clean-up of the bulletin board.
• The administrator emphasized the discussion from the previous meeting and the decision that for the sake of simplicity only ICW items will remain in office and on the bulletin board. Mosque in general needed a general clean up as the Ramadan getting closer and that the clean-up is one of the steps to get ready for Ramadan operation. It should not be considered as a measure against any individual or items.
• ICW Treasurer presented four bids to replace the carpet. Bids are from LOWES, HOME DEPOT, and individual carpet broker. Average bid is $23,000.00. Committee decided to request the individual broker provide best and final bid for quality similar to LOWE?S and HOME DEPOT carpet.

Action Item for Gencer and Iqbal

• ICW executive committee will review best and final bid from the individual broker and will inform BOT of their decision.

Finance:

• No new items.

Religious:

• In regards to have a permanent Imam, the religious committee presented two proposals, one for a short term, and the second for the long term Imam.
• All members agreed to the job description as written for the long term position. Inputs from all committee members were requested.
• The list for interim Imam is narrowed to brother Sayed Al-Aswany, the religious advisor, and Shaikh Mahmood. A third choice as mentioned by Haji will be interviewed by the religious committee chairman. Final decision regarding the interim Imam will be determined by the end of Sunday, October 24, 05.

Weekend School:

• Educational officer visited the weekend school and noted his observations that were relayed to the committee. ICW treasurer asked the school administrator for list of names and addresses of all children who are enrolled and their parents.
• School administrator will be requested formally by ICW regarding new suggestions and improvements to the weekend school and to provide assurance of continued ICW support to make the school better with more teachers and volunteers.

Action Item for Iqbal

Community Relation:

• All members were reminded one more time to read the constitution, and detail their work statement based on their responsibilities as described in the constitution. This action is for all; however, Hisham volunteers to try to draft a work statement for each officer based on his experience. Action Item for all.
• Names of all volunteers to be posted and presented to the community via an announcement to be posted on the bulletin board and on the Web site.

Meeting adjourn at 9:05 PM for Maghrib prayer, discussion continued after Maghrib prayer until 10:00 PM
