Idris Mosque runs on the generosity of its community. Gifts keep the doors open for five daily prayers, fund classes and outreach, and provide help and dignified burial for families in need.

Every contribution goes toward making Idris Mosque an even better house of worship: utilities, maintenance, the imam and staff, and the programs that serve thousands of worshippers and visitors each year. Recurring monthly gifts help the mosque plan ahead.
Zakat is not charity but an obligation: two and a half percent of the savings a Muslim has held for a lunar year, once that wealth passes the threshold below. It may only be given to the categories of people the Qur’an names at 9:60, and the mosque distributes what it receives locally, through its financial assistance program, to families in need.
Zakat and sadaqah share one giving form, so write “Zakat” in the note. The note is what tells the office to record and distribute your gift as zakat rather than as general giving. If you are unsure whether you owe it, or what counts as savings, email askus@idrismosque.com and someone will work through it with you.
Sadaqah is voluntary and carries none of zakat’s conditions: any amount, at any time, from anyone. It supports aid and relief through education, housing, food and medical help, and it is the fund the mosque draws on when a family needs something that zakat does not cover.
It can be given once or as a regular monthly amount, and it is often given in someone’s memory or in gratitude for something. If you would like it to support a particular program, say so in the note and the mosque will honor that where it can. Gifts cannot be set aside for a specific person or family.
The cemetery fund established the Islamic Cemetery Garden at Abbey View Memorial Park and continues to provide graves for those who cannot afford one. Your contribution ensures dignified, respectful and accessible burial for our community now and for future generations.
The mosque’s heating, cooling and ventilation system has nearly failed: too hot in summer, too cold in winter, and hardest on our elders, children and families. This campaign installs new, energy-efficient units so the prayer hall is comfortable for every prayer, in every season. Every gift, whatever its size, is an ongoing charity in your name.

Gifts by check can be delivered to the mosque office at 1420 NE Northgate Way, Seattle, WA 98125, and cash is accepted there too. Giving in person or by check avoids the card processing fee, so more of the gift reaches the mosque.
