Ramadan at Idris Mosque

مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ

Two lecture series by the mosque’s sheikhs run every day of the month: one after the Fajr prayer, and one after Taraweeh.

Both series are open to everyone, and no registration is needed: pray with us and stay for the lecture. Talks recorded at the mosque are posted on our YouTube channel, and the year’s topics are announced on Facebook and at the mosque as the month begins.

مَنْ فَطَّرَ صَائِمًا كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِهِ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَجْرِ الصَّائِمِ شَيْئًا

“Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break the fast will have a reward like theirs, without lessening the fasting person’s reward in the slightest.”

Every day of Ramadan, Idris Mosque hosts iftar so that the community can break the fast together, meet one another and pray Maghrib in congregation. Everyone is welcome: bring your family, a neighbor, or a friend who is new to Seattle.

Iftar is served at the Maghrib adhan. Each day’s iftar is made possible by a sponsor; you can sponsor a full day or part of one below. To help set up, serve or clean up, email askus@idrismosque.com.

مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ

“Whoever stands in prayer during Ramadan out of faith and in hope of reward, his past sins are forgiven.”

Every night of Ramadan, Taraweeh is prayed in congregation at the mosque, right after the Isha prayer.

Come for Isha and stay for Taraweeh; the second lecture of the day follows the prayer. The hall is busiest on the first nights and through the last ten, so please arrive early and park considerately in the neighborhood.

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

“The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.”

Qur’an 97:3

During the last ten nights of Ramadan, the mosque stays open through the night for those who wish to spend the nights in prayer, worship and completing the recitation of the Qur’an.

I’tikaf is a retreat: staying in the mosque and devoting yourself to worship, in search of Laylat al-Qadr. Whether you plan to stay for the whole ten nights or for a single night, please let the office know in advance so that the mosque can prepare.
